Employee Spotlight - Chris

Why did you join Brevy?

I talked a lot with Anika, Mohamed, and Conder about their products and journey through YCombinator- helping out and providing feedback where I could. When they asked me to join, it made a lot of sense - and I had always wanted to be a part of a start-up.

What did you do before Brevy?

I was deep into electronics and hardware during undergrad but started in Software as a PM at Microsoft. I worked on Windows Update and Azure.

What advice would you give those who want to work at a start-up?

Be ready to be flexible - every day is a bit different. My responsibilities are very varied, but that's the part I enjoy. Even on the engineering side of things, things shift rapidly. It's a dynamic environment, for sure.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I (try to) work out every day - for me, as much as IĀ hate going in the moment, IĀ feel much better after IĀ do. I also try to read and go to the beach as much as possible. But, I can never say no to a bad TV binge while sitting on the couch.

If you had to delete all but three apps from your smartphone, which ones would you keep?

I will assume that I keep my voice calling/communication features. But here's what I'd keep

- Spotify - I love podcasts: I'm currently listening through the "The Land of Giants" by Vox. And, I would die without music on the road.

- Superhuman is my favorite email client; it keeps me organized without overstimulating me.

- Upnext is a great new app that bookmarks all the reading materials I want to go through. I had a problem with articles cluttering my bookmarks bar - this does a great job managing that material. Check it out!

I hope the team doesn't get mad that I don't have Slack on this list, but we do a good job keeping down the Slack noise, so I don't feel pressured to keep it on my phone.

Whatā€™s the best trip (traveling-wise) you ever had?

Eastern Africa, in Kenya and Uganda - amazing nature and even better people. I went on my honeymoon, and I'm looking forward to when I can go back again, even longer!

If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why

Anyone who says anything but telekinesis is wrong - by far the best superpower because you can do anything with your mind.
